Video of Ron Ghitter telling City of Calgary that the TAATC board shall be made up of TA and TC representatives.
Watch this short video of a committee meeting where Ron Ghitter requests an in-kind lease from the City of Calgary for just $10 per year, an estimated value of $100,000 annually.
Concerns were expressed that since the TAATC is a private non-profit organization, there would be a lack of public oversight regarding the public funds used to support its operations.
In response to these concerns, Ghitter assured that Tennis Alberta and Tennis Canada would act as the governing bodies of TAATC (see video), ensuring that the revenue generated from this publicly funded facility would be managed responsibly.
However, after receiving the lease from the City of Calgary, Ghitter adamantly refused any involvement from Tennis Alberta. The TAATC Board was comprised entirely of Ghitter’s appointees until 2024 when Tennis Alberta took legal action. As a result, Ghitter’s associates joined the Tennis Alberta board and One board seat was allocated to Tennis Alberta while Tennis Canada also remains minimally represented.
